Description
Garlic Butter Steak Bites paired with crispy, cheesy smashed potatoes make for the perfect comfort meal—rich, hearty, and ready in just 30 minutes. Juicy steak chunks, golden potatoes, melted cheddar, and fresh green onions come together in a delicious dinner that’s both simple and satisfying.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 strip steaks, cut into 1‑inch cubes
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 24 oz baby potatoes
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 3 green onions, thinly sliced
Instructions
- Boil baby potatoes until fork‑tender, about 10–12 minutes. Drain and let them cool slightly.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet or griddle. Place potatoes inside and press them flat with a spatula. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cook until golden and crispy on both sides, about 4 minutes per side.
- While potatoes crisp, toss steak cubes with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Push potatoes aside, increase heat, and sear steak cubes until browned and cooked to your liking (about 4–6 minutes total).
- Reduce heat to medium-low. Add butter and garlic to the skillet, swirling to melt and coat the steak bites in garlic butter—about 1 minute.
- Sprinkle cheddar over the crispy potatoes so it melts. Top everything with sliced green onions. Serve immediately.
Notes
Use chicken or mushrooms as a steak substitute. Try mozzarella or smoked gouda for cheese variations. Add chili flakes or cayenne for heat. Pair with broccoli or salad for extra veggies. Steak freezes well; potatoes best fresh.
