Melty Hot Italian Oven Subs

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

Melty, cheesy, and packed with bold flavor—these Hot Italian Oven Subs are your new go-to for feeding a hungry crowd. Layers of classic Italian deli meats, gooey mozzarella, and tangy giardiniera are tucked into seasoned, buttered hoagie rolls and baked until hot and melty.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 hoagie rolls
  • 4 oz sliced salami
  • 4 oz large, thinly sliced pepperoni
  • 9 oz sliced ham
  • 24 slices thin-sliced mozzarella cheese
  • Giardiniera mix (optional, for a spicy, tangy crunch)
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tsp dry Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. In a small bowl, mix softened butter and Italian seasoning. Spread the seasoned butter evenly on the inside of each hoagie roll.
  2. In each roll, layer: 2 slices mozzarella, 2 slices salami, 2 slices pepperoni, 2 slices ham, a spoonful of giardiniera (if using), and top with 2 more slices of mozzarella.
  3. Place assembled sandwiches in a large baking dish, standing upright and packed closely together. Bake for 10 minutes, or until cheese is melty and sandwiches are heated through. For a toasted finish, bake a few extra minutes.

Notes

Assemble the sandwiches a few hours in advance and refrigerate. Wrap and store leftovers in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven for best results.
