- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar or Gruyère cheese

Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Prepare the Potatoes: Wash, peel, and thinly slice the potatoes.
- Make the Cream Mixture: In a small bowl, mix cream, garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- Layer the Dish: Arrange a layer of potatoes in the dish, pour some cream mixture, and sprinkle cheese. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used. Reserve extra cheese for the top.
- Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil, sprinkle remaining cheese, and bake uncovered for 15–20 minutes or until golden-brown.
